Idk. I have time and money nowadays actually. But I just can't seem to ever get into games anymore. At most maybe I'll play a game for a day or two and that's it. Idk it's almost like it feels like too much "work" if that makes sense.
My problem is I can't get "addicted" to games easily and I only play for a couple of hours at most, and then I'll go right back to watching stuff like YouTube. Maybe that's because I'm running out of friends to play multiplayer games with and have been forced to play singleplayer games. I have a 9800x3d and 5080 and I feel guilty that im not getting the most out of it. Sometimes I even consider quitting gaming because I don't have the motivation to play unless it's with my friends. Doesn't help that there's so many cool games that are meant to be played co-op or i guess some would call "friend slop" games.
I miss the days when my friends would play shooters with me for hours. Now my best friend is so changed that I feel like I barely know him or relate to him anymore. 😢 I hate getting older. I'm depressed now.
Edit: im playing Resident Rvil Requiem and so far im loving it, maybe i was exaggerating a little.

The marketing cycle keeps telling me "Buy New Stuff!" when I already have a bunch of perfectly playable stuff on my hard drive. And yeah, I don't have 4-12 hours to really drown myself in a long form game where the plot builds and the scenery is immersive and the music really takes hold of me.
But, Idk man, maybe that's okay? Maybe I really don't need to spend that much of my life in front of a screen. Walking my dog, playing with my son, making dinner with my wife, doing some housecleaning so I'm not living in a sty. Maybe these are better uses of my time than just gaming all day.

I definitely miss spending time with my friends. But when we do hang out, I find we spend more time making small talk and making each other drinks and watching our kids bounce off one another. And the time becomes nice because it's restful, not because it's this high strung life-or-death gun battle.

I e wasted so much money with this problem. $70 no problem, 6 hrs later. I’m bored and don’t want to play anymore
I hope to change that working out to game with a new friend met on Lemmy. Looking forward to get back into gaming.

Effect and cause
I mean if I have nobody to play with then oh well might as well just watch something or do something else 🤷
And no i was depressed before I started doing that.
Seems like a good "problem" to have.
"Damn it! I can't seem to get hooked on this heroin".

Jokes on them! AAA and even AA games are becoming less affordable! Indies are carrying this industry.
Also, I pirate my shit. Skidrow FTW.
Oh, if only you could still buy a video game instead of "buy" a video game.
Pah! Despite other hobbies and wifey, I still game 5-8hrs a day. For decades now 😁
...and I still have too many untouched games I reaaaaally wanted to play. Years ago...
Jokes on you! I’m a social hermit with all time in the world for games
It's called a SteamDeck
