That's the entire conservative mindset, and has been throughout all time: "how does this thing affect ME?"

The conservative woman they talk about here is an engineer. Almost all the engineers I know work 60-80 hour weeks.

That's the thing with lots of Americans. We work so hard to pay the increasing rent and take care of ourselves and our families that we simply don't have the time or energy to see outside the bubbles in which we live. We don't go through the process of researching everything we hear on the news, so we're easy targets for propaganda - especially now that it's got algorithmic targeting to steer specific people in specific directions.

These people really, truly believe the lies they're told about immigrants.

Idk... I don't think there's a correlation between the hours you work and basic empathy

Oh, no I think there is, indirectly. If you're working 60-80 hours a week, you have absolutely no home life and almost surely can't grasp the concept of someone else wanting it. That is directly related to empathy towards others.

You're right. I over simplified. Over working people is definitely a tool to make people more complacent. If you're too tired or over worked, you're too tired to fight (or care about others). Yay capitalism!

But research WHAT exactly? I work, I don't spend hours researching stuff, it's literarily shit you can see with your eyes.

W BUSH send us into TWO illegal wars and a recession, that's all you need to know to never fucking vote Republican again in your God damn life.

Still too stupid?

Trump literarily sent us into a recession, killed millions of Americans mismaningin a pandemic, and TRIED TO OVERTHROW THE FUCKING GOVERNMENT!!!

If you are still voting Republican it's not because of lack of research, it's because you are actively a piece of shit human being, just like the cunt in this story.

Lots of them are only exposed to right-wing propaganda and they literally don't know how much responsibility for Covid falls on Trump. Their YouTube algorithms literally feed them false stories about Covid, Iran, and more while sowing distrust in fact-based science and reporting.

Targeted content is so much more dangerous than anyone thinks.

News from the wealthy controlled MSM is like junk food. It rots you, whereas solid information is like top quality food but it requires work and investment. Most people are just too busy and broke so they swallow the BS and keep on slaving away.

The sad part is, she agrees with you.

"I think we need some type of reform," she said. "People don't know about this process until it happens to somebody they know."

Ownership of media outlets is a cause of so much of this.

How long do you think they'll listen to you explaining all the systemic wrongs to them until their eyes glace over as there's no simple solution?

9

Because that's just how most people are.

People only care about what's best for them and their own self-interests. The only difference is that some people think ahead or have a wider view of the general situation compared to others.

Guess you will have to pay domestic labor rates for childcare. Psychopaths.

No you fucking didn't.

Not at this point in time you didn't.

No sane or rational person believed this was about the violent criminals since fucking Minnesota.

It is about fear and intimidation. And you liked it until it came to scare you and yours.

You may be missing just how skewed the information sources are for so many people. When their most trusted sources consistently weave the narrative that all the horrors of ICE are negative spin and lies, then it's easier for those people to assume the real people and other news sources in their life telling them something closer to objective truth are parroting corrupted information. It isn't until they see it in front of them, impacting someone they know for sure isn't evil/a criminal/a threat, that they truly come face to face with the possibility that they were lied to by those they most trusted.

9

Yeah, but it has a different flavor when the "person who you trusted" is your trusted person because they are violent, careless, and a narcissist, but they just promise to take you with them.

Anyone can fall into a cult, or an abusive relationship. Anyone can be misled in this way given enough time and resources. The question I have to remind everyone is
"How did they get hooked?"
These people were hooked with violence toward others and being "better than everyone else". I have no sympathy, nor do I want them anywhere near me or power ever again.

They see every illegal person as a criminal. Hope that clears things up.

23

No, see, they're all criminals except the ones who benefit me! Those are the good ones!

22

They have a completely different understanding of our shared vocabulary. They live in a curated world of outrage and grift.

She voted for mass deportation not criminal deportation and her cult were cheerfully holding up signs in support.

19

After a divorce caused her immigration status to lapse, Basele was issued a final order of removal in 2011.

She lost her status because she got divorced? The fuckin fuck even is that shit

17

married an american, then divorced an american, all that while not being an american herself, i assume?

4

That people still think this goes to show you how uninformed people are. (That and Fox sure isn't going to tell them it's normal people, they're going to tell them it is all criminals.)

12

That's a shame... I sure hope no trolls start publicly accusing these leopards of being paid leftist actors until their own people turn on them.

10

Trump was talking about migrants as criminals. You remembered correctly. Your mistake was believing him.

You reached the end
