Nemi - To be goth [comic, fan edit]
I really like this strip, it's such a wholesome interaction between them, and it has a nice message about being yourself. Plus it's a nice follow-up to last week's strip.
Nemi is a character from Norway by Lise Myhre. The strip is written in Norwegian but for a while it was translated and ran in England. The character is into metal, industrial, goth, and “dark culture” in general. For more info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nemi_(comic_strip)
::: spoiler edit notes
The copy I found online was very low-res and hard to read. I enlarged it and ran a "sharpen" filter over it - it's still kinda fried, not as sharp as Myhre's artwork deserves. Kinda sad, but that's the nature of fan edits. Anyway then I removed all the text (which was very hard to read) and added it back in the Garfield Sans font, and made some wording changes. That's besides the usual change from 1x4 to 2x2 and border and titles.
Here's the original for comparison:
The biggest change was in panel 3 adding a word balloon and remove the phrase "so full of unattainable wisdom about life" which I thought was a bit overblown. I thought about adding back just "deep" which kinda echoed the fact that they were at a well, but that sounded reductive and plus then in the punchline when Nemi said she was mysterious it kinda looked odd like she was saying her friend was mysterious but not "deep". Maybe something between the two? idk, wording in comics is really hard bc you have such limited space, that's one of the biggest things I've learned from doing these edits!
