so for anyone as confused as i was - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Kimble

Jack Kimble, also known by his Twitter username @RepJackKimble, is a fictional and satirical character active on the social media websites Twitter and Bluesky. Presented as a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives, his character has also been used as a novelty candidate. Several of the account's posts have gone viral and mistakenly thought to have been posted by a legitimate American politician.

There wasn't anything to be confused about - it's in character to the point of being more reenactment than parody.

Yeah this is just normal expected shit. It’s why The Onion can’t be funny anymore.

People have been saying that since at least 2016, but The Onion hasn't lost a step. Their writers unionizing in 2018 made them even better than before despite Trump being President at the time.

well for me there was. i am not an american and i don't know every us politician by name. so if this was real politician, my questions would be 1) is this real? 2) ok, being so dumb that you can't switch accounts is one thing, but did he really believe that some black democratic lesbian, or any other democrat, would saw this and switch to the other side because of his argument? that would made him truly retarded.

I mean it was clearly sarcastic even if it was a real account

It's hilarious watching naive people see common republican tactics and think they're being sarcastic when they're genuinely thinking they can move public opinion with such stupid comments.

I mean it’s a reference to a real thing that happened, the main giveaway was them saying insider trading and not “buying sucks” or something.

It's also not uncommon for them to say the quiet part out loud. OP's post is just a smorgasbord of shit that's already happened. The only thing that would stand out as fake would be the name, but that's only if you're up to date on US politics enough to actually know the names well enough to sniff out a fake one. ...and that level of familiarity would be a full time job!

1

Real right wing politicians do this often enough for the reference to land, presumably trying to fend off accusations of racism?

There was a reddit scandal last year where the mods of the ChangeMyMind sub agreed to let an AI lab research what arguments people on the sub found persuasive by writing fake responses. Claiming to be from an impacted group turned out to be a top persuasion factor.

It's not like it gets a majority of people. But if you can peel one percent off with one campaign, then those people's connections can start to see that side of the argument as more human due to the in-person exposure, and the next campaign can peel off another one percent - it adds up over time.

yeah, but "let them make crime, they need to eat" is just too much (which makes sense knowing it is a satire).

anyway that research sounds interesting, i am going to look at it, thank you.

As soon as ai "people" were created. They immediately made minority ones that supported conservatives.

Thinking other black people would be stupid enough to follow a black woman regardless of what she said.

Should have looked at Candice owens. She's pretty much disowned by her own people.

Candice Owens should be disowned by everyone, seeing she is a huge piece of shit and all.

Part of the issue though is people really are that stupid. It's not a race thing, but a human thing.

Not even as bright as a Chinese or Russian bot.
