Why would any wizard who worked hard to attain their power respect a warlock who merely borrowed it from another?

No, you see, you're actually tied to a tree and not part of the summoning or the protective sacrifice, so you'll be eaten by the eldritch creature later. For now you just get to watch your former buddies having fun together.
