People always mention Winstons but nobody names the drummer Gregory Coleman. He got no royalties and died homeless and broke. He should at least get some respect.
I can give you a couple for Liquid Drum and Bass, in no particular order:
Monrroe
Kairos
Mohican Sun
Degster
Calibre
Tarz
LSB (one of my favourites)
Netsky
Based on a playlist I got off Spotify a while ago that I like a lot.
I'm not too familiar with a lot of Jungle artists since I usually just listen to mixes and haven't delved into specific artists before, but there's a couple that are quite famous for being OGs:
General Levy
SHY FX
DJ Rap
LTJ Bukem
Ragga Twins
M-Beat
As for Breakcore, I know even fewer, but here's a couple personal standouts:
Goreshit
Machine Girl
Sewerslvt
Tokyopill
Enkei
Mayo.
It's so interesting to see all these names in such an overview. I feel like at a glance I can tell the vibes of these genres. But that's just me :)
Happy listening!
Edit: Special shoutout to the soundtrack of the game SPRAWL - got some really nice tracks in there. The first time I heard THE SPIRE, I didn't even clock that it is from a game

lol I would recognize that envelope even without the context
Would you enlighten my uneducated self? 🦦
It's (probably) the most popular drum break in history. Dubbed the "Amen break", it comes from a track called "Amen, Brother" by The Winstons.
It has been sampled in countless tracks, and is the foundation of some genres like breakcore.

Thanks. For anyone else learning about this, have this cool video about it that i found https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zmEDzsMkqE
Is it the one from Firestarter?
A lot of Big Beat or Breakbeat is based on the drum loop, so yea, a lot of The Prodigy's catalogue is based on it too. More so the earlier albums, tho
To add to this, one well known example of where it was used is Straight Outta Compton by NWA: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TMZi25Pq3T8
I'm also clueless, based on the 50 year bit I'd hazard a guess at the intro to Blue Monday

If you want to listen to it
Thanks
The 'Amen Break' from 'Amen, Brother' by The Winstons (Invidious link)
It's the "drum" part of "drum n bass"
Junglist massive.
We need Jungle, I'm afraid
Can I get an Amen!
A fellow DnB fan!
DnB, Jungle, Breakcore :)
Liquid DnB and Jungle are probably my favourites
I must admit, I am not super familiar with the subgenres. Got any artist recommendations?
