Rum and mezcal seems like a weird pairing to me, unless it was a really oaky rum

That or something really grassy/funky like a rhum agricole or an unaged cachaca (technically not rum). I'd swap the honey syrup for regular simple though. I could see honey clashing more with everything else than rum and mezcal clashing

It should probably stick to American ingredients to be more authentic.

It's going to depend on how much matcha you get. It probably needs more sweetness either way. It definitely wouldn't be for everyone, but it's possible the grassy elements of rum, mezcal and matcha could work okay.

And of course the rum is from Cuba and the Mezcal from Mexico, can you get Iranian honey?
