Your preamp looks like mine but I can’t figure out what that silver disc is on it. Is it part of it and we have different models? Or is it a separate piece you have laying on top?

Ah makes sense. I thought it might’ve been a record clamp but it looked too small, 45 adapter makes a lot more sense.

Yeah, original tubes. What preamp is yours? Just wondering if we actually have the same one or if I’m losing it.

Yeah okay, same as me then.

I’ve considered upgrading the tubes but I’m not sure I’d notice the difference enough to warrant the cost. I’m currently thinking of upgrading speakers, but I also rarely have time to listen to records so maybe not. I also want to get some new coffee equipment, as that’s the only hobby I really have time to appreciate these days, but I also only recently got really into it so I’m not sure I should spend the money yet. Fun times…

I picked up some roughly hundred dollar matched tubes I’ll let you know if they change anything at all.

Depending on your speakers those will probably effect the music much more then the vacuum tubes on the preamp.

Yeah I’d definitely be interested in how much it improves sound.

My front speakers are decent cheap speakers I’d say. I don’t remember the make or model right now, but they’re pretty good sound on the quieter end anyway. I don’t usually blast music so I didn’t need anything super loud. I want to get a centre speaker and upgrade my rear speakers, which are probably considered vintage at this point. I love them aesthetically but their sound isn’t the best by modern standards.

I like the little ledge for the record being currently played, but what's the wire going to it?

Good call, I completely missed that. Even after zooming in. 🤦

OP usually does not have it lit in these photos. Likely because it sort of distracts from the album art, which is supposed to be the focus of these images.
