Tale as old as time. Over twenty years ago police NCIC security and integrity training courses contained a cautionary tale about a sheriff’s deputy who tried to hit on a woman coming out of the courthouse, she brushed him off so he watched her get into her car and drive away, and he ran her license plate to find out where she lived. He went to her house and tried flirting again. Turned out she was an assistant DA and she nailed his ass to the wall for it. He lost his job and went to jail.

And how would that have turned out if she didn't happen to be in a position of power?

Oh take your pick:

A. “Boys will be boys” B. “She probably led him on” C. “She’s just making it all up for attention” D. All of the above

If they're stalking them, they're hardly romantic partners are they? More like victims of stalking and overreach.

These are cops were talking about, some of the most controlling people on the planet. I think it’s entirely plausible they were stalking/tracking people they were actively dating. I’m also going to guess that this isn’t just something they’ve started doing since they got access to this technology.

Arrested? For real? I thought they were above the law

They won't get convicted, they're just needing arrested to make it look like the cops aren't corrupt.
