Are they crazy? They don't use any of that to make byproducts? You can glue a few pieces to make new wood slabs for example - of course, usually one-piece things cost more, but it's a lot of material so it's just weird it is not used at all!

They've probably crunched the numbers, where storing inventory and the labour to piece stuff together is more costly than just tossing out the value of the wood.

I think they make beds and sideboards and other big stuff, so these really are just tiny bits as far as what they're working with, I guess as the other comment says they can just write this stuff off as it'd cost more to retool to use it
