Four little faces, one very big season. We've had a surge of rescued tawny owlets recently, and these four are part of the latest group now in our care at Tiggywinkles.

Tawny owlets naturally leave the nest before they can properly fly - often ending up on the ground while still being fed and protected by their parents nearby. It's a vulnerable stage, and this year we've seen a noticeable increase in calls about young birds in exactly this situation.

These four are growing up together, being carefully monitored, fed, and given the support they need to develop their strength and independence before they eventually return to the wild.

If you ever find a young owl on the ground, please don't assume it's abandoned. In many cases, mum and dad are close by, watching and caring for them even if you can't see them. As always, if you're unsure, the safest step is to contact a wildlife expert before intervening.
