Was Nancy popular in the BD-sphere? I believe that Polly & Her Pals and The Spirit were, but I'm not sure about other 50's era comics.

From what I’m reading, it was published in several French magazines at the time, so I guess it was reasonably popular, but I’m not sure it’s that well known nowadays? If I were to show a picture to random people in the street, I don’t think most of them would recognise it? I’m not sure.

Apparently it was originally translated under the title “Arthur et Zoé” (Zoé being Nancy et Arthur, Sluggo).

Thanks for explaining. As my knowledge of French and BD comes along, this is one of the little niche topics I'd be interested in learning more about, in future.

By the way, this strip in particular reminded me of Imbattable, which you have written about a few months ago — but I don’t think his super power allows him to cut panel borders.
