Its a suspended sentence, not an imprisonment. Its still shitty and nonsense, but the title of the article is even shittier.
So this effectively will kill the Japanese Lets Play sector of videos? I wonder how this will effect vtubers.
This is why japanese vtuber companies get permission for every game they play on stream. Japanese copyright law is crazy strict

Yeah basically game/anime streaming just died with this decision.
That's a bit much for what they did. I could understand if they leaked an episode early or ripped a blu ray and uploaded it to a torrent site. However it sounds like they basically made an amv of SpyxFamily.
You could understand being sentenced to two years in prison for leaking an episode early? Boy, I can't.
At least they can have a leg to stand on with the whole copyright thing. I still think this is all bs though.
