Okay, but like real talk- why does he look like that...? Does he like, have a medical condition? Hes not really person shaped...

Mitchie151reply

It looks like a barrel chest, which can be a symptom of lung conditions like COPD, or just being old. Other rumours suggested it can happen because of steroid usage without appropriate accompanying exercise. Elon does seem like the kind of person who would use steroids without exercising.

61

Steroids don't cause that. But growth hormone, which is often taken alongside steroids, can.

I think it's like how The One Ring brought to Gollum unnatural long life. This level of wealth, or the trappings that come with it, have mutated and perverted Elon into something that only echoes some scant memory of his former self.

Human Growth Hormone is rumoured to extend longevity, and also causes oversized organs.

11

I don't think those two conclusions track with each other

Curious to see if Elon makes it to a normal human life expectancy or goes out Steve Jobs style

Probably just sucking in his gut cause he thinks it makes him look less fat.

9

He’s doing his best to hold in his giant belly, like an olde timey body builder. My fat brother does the same thing.

3
  1. This was before Ozempic.
  2. Ozempic doesn't 'backfire' simply by making you fat again. It 'backfires' by doing what it does too much and makes your guts move too slowly to be healthy, or other similar side-effects.

I always wondered when capitalism deems everything is good enough. Like does it have a goal state? Because I've played games that don't have one and those always end with having to put more coins in the machine.

1

The goal state is the same state of mind as that of the deranged cat lady who needlessly wants to own as many cats as possible and keep them all in her house.

It's a mental illness where the person collecting money and wealth only understands collecting more and more endless amounts of wealth and power ... more than they can ever realistically ever enjoy in one lifetime.

Think about it ..... it's like wanting to horde bananas ... the person keeps hording endless amounts of bananas until their banana pile is the size of Mount Everest and reaches into the clouds ... but the person keeps wanting to add to the pile and not allow any else to touch their pile or take anything from it.

At the very least it belongs within the scope of gambling addiction. I lost a friend to gambling. Gambling is one of the worst fucking addictions, because they will gamble until there is nothing left and then they die, and they take everyone around them down with them, they destroy everything for everyone. Another part of it is that if money is success is morality, you even get respected for being a good gambler.

But I'd go even further and claim that it is a structural consequence of the rules of the system. It happens by necessity, because that is what the logical conclusion of running the game will inevitably produce.

It is unsustainable, demands more of less, the more everything is improved and the more wealth is being produced, the more we see diminishing returns, because it demands ever more energy of ever diminishing resources, and thus produce ever diminishing returns, until there is nothing left.

Thanks for listening to my podcast The End Is Nigh, good night.

Reminds me of that Simpsons skit, where Bart and Lisa got a massive pile of candy, and they're so sick of candy because they ate so much, and Marge goes,

"kids! That pile is starting to smell. Are you gonna eat it?"

"nooooooh".

"Then we'll give it away to the neighborhood kids!"

"Nooooooh."

I'm probably massacring that skit but you know the one. 😁

2

Always loved the Simpsons and I'm happy I grew up watching them ... my favourite commentary on wealth in the show was how they portrayed Montgomery Burns ..... “I have two buttons behind this desk: one will supply your town with power, the other releases the hounds” ......... ! ...... ? ..... ! ......? ...... "release the hounds"

of even better ... the 'See My Vest' song

See my vest, see my vest,
Made from real gorilla chest,
Feel this sweater, there's no better
than authentic Irish setter.

See this hat, 'twas my cat,
My evening wear - vampire bat,
These white slippers are albino
African endangered rhino.

Grizzly bear underwear,
Turtles' necks, I've got my share,
Beret of poodle, on my noodle
It shall rest.

Friendly reminder that over 4 million children are in the process of dying because of his actions cutting foreign aid.

You have to be truly mentally ill, or something less than human, to be this kind of evil.

114

over 4 million children are in the process of dying because of his actions cutting foreign aid.

They're dying because we've ramped up arms exports to surrounding territories in the midst of a climate crisis.

The idea that countries like Sudan and Libya and Haiti need USAID is predicated on us ignoring why they're impoverished and war torn to begin with

2

You could be both indifferent and ignorant at the same time. No inherent danger in that unless you're super rich and powerful and everything you do has global consequences.

Financial obesity is an existential threat to any society that tolerates it, and needs to cease being celebrated, rewarded, and positioned as an aspirational goal.

Corporations are the only ‘persons’ which should be subjected to capital punishment, but billionaires should be euthanised through taxation.

I remember a bunch of movies where torches and pitchforks helped.

That wasn't aimed at the billionaire. It was aimed at the billionaire's monster, a misunderstood child-like creature abused into madness.

A business is made, and is successful. WELL DONE.

Instead of a billion dollars going to the owner and, let's say, 100K in salary to each worker... what if the CEO only made 100 million, and the employees each made 500K in salary?

Is that communism?

24

what if the CEO only made 100 million, and the employees each made 500K in salary?

The Raytheon Strategy.

Works great if you're trying to bribe Nazi ex-pats into compliance while fighting a war of arms escalation.

Is that communism?

True Communism can only be achieved if we wipe all the current communists off the map, take their stuff, and impose "democracy" through an occupying military.

5
saimenreply

To play devil's advocate they would reply that without the owner there would be 0 salary for each worker.

And you have to be careful. CEO and owner most of the time isn't the same person.

Of course, this argument is a pretty piss poor one when the example held up is Musk...

His first jolt was selling a website to a relatively clueless Compaq that did nothing with it except throw money at Elon. No idea if Elon's site was any good or not, but it didn't matter because the reality is that it folded without an enduring impact as part of the dot-com collapse. He used his winnings to try to make X.com the first time, and was a comparative failure next to Paypal, which, somehow, agreed to merge and put him in charge and he almost tanked it. Then ebay bought it out and Musk got maddening amount of money for doing nothing but screw it up.

Tesla is probably the first example of him not actively screwing it up, though his drama around "I wanna call myself a founder" was dumb. That said, any investor could have done it, so his 'value' was his lottery-like wins leading to that point.

There are others that are arguable, though recently had it happen where someone kept giving out names of impressive and seemingly valuable 'billionaires', and we kept checking and every last one were 'only' millionaires. So it seems like 'billionaire' remains a stupidly over the top concept that isn't particularly redeemable, with the defensibly decent folks staying under a billion through not being super greedy and/or philanthropy.

Of curriosity is there much to hate on her, or is it just the normal right wing "comic is woke" and she charges for nudes?

12

most of what people already said is true, but there's a strong incel factor as well.

It got so bad around here I made a bingo card that I'm too lazy to hunt down again.

8

Generally I've heard* she shuts down a lot of dissent and criticisms of her work (even legitimate "I don't like this" type passive comments) on r/comics because so much of the sub is her content and she gets disproportionate vote because of it (and like 3 other people like HowlingElk).

A fairly legitimate complaint I've seen is the aforementioned meta fact that half the sub is her content and not much more so they have to constantly see her stuff even if they otherwise don't mind the messaging.

2

There are a lot of popular webcomics on Reddit, and the only one that gets nearly as much hate is Ctrl Alt Del. And I dunno, I don't think Pizza Cake is very much like CAD. I think it's closer to Penny Arcade, which doesn't get any hate as far as I've seen.

4

Vote botting, mass censorship, and a lot of misandrist posts of which I will provide no evidence of when sealions ask me about it but is pretty easy to go and search for. She has a kiwifarms page which I guess is a place where people come together to shame and harass people, not something I endorse, but if you're truly interested then just go and read it to see her haters tell you exactly why they hate her.

-1

Nope, nothing whatsoever real to hate about her. Everyone who hates her is just right of Hitler, only reason possible.

-2

My son’s high school has been without air conditioning for 2 years. I asked around the cost of repair is near 150k

Of course this means our government is garbage, but at the same time there are 20 billionaires living in my city. You’d think one of these fucks would be like “fuck dude, no ac in the school?? I’ll pay that bill right away” but no, Thats not how they think

15

I hear something similar in small organizations. One guy can set up a mutual aid effort and someone else can do start a mildly controversial thing and you can see the attention get split.

Something something billionaires are mentally ill

8

Billionaire "charities": The billionaires own your workplace. They underpay you but it would be even worse if you didn't have any job, isn't it? They sell you garbage products, but haven't you thought that the fact everyone else also use them might be a sign that it's actually good, you're just too needy? They help fascists into power, but did you know that communism killed more by numbers? And no more vaccines for Africa, because they now want disease-driven eugenics.

13

Just chiming in to say OP I've seen a couple of your posts before, but this is the first time I ever clicked on your pfp out of curiousity, and it's hilarious hahaha 10/10

Farmers keep people from starving. Governments subsidize farmers to keep prices low. Subsidies come from taxes collected from regular people. So people keep themselves from starving by helping farmers.

Let me ask you a very simple question:

How do billionaires keep people from starving?

QUICKLY.

5

By not paying enough tax so that all schools can offer free meals.

Do all schools have enough funds to offer free school meals? No? Tax wealth above 1bn until they do.

6

I got into an argument a couple of days ago with someone with the exact same take (verbatim "billionaires are needed to stimulate the economy"), except they were arguing in favour of Chinese "socialism in a capitalist economy" (!). Funny how allegedly opposing viewpoint push the same opinions.

The inherent privilege men enjoy, the idiocy of celebrity worship, the fact that being rich and famous doesn't make anyone smarter or better, the way fragile male egos so often manifest in violence

Shit like that

1

I actually agree with her pro-women, pro-trans, liberal takes. My problem with her comics is they're lazy. She's just preaching to the choir.

This is evidenced by the fact that she never criticizes the Democratic Party. When Democrats do things that hurt everyday people -- for example, when they vote to increase ICE funding, send more money to Israel, bail out corporations that are "too big to fail", etcetra etcetera -- someone with Pizzacake's following has an opportunity to demonstrate their values by making a (less popular) comic. Instead, she just parrots viewpoints that her audience already agrees with. This is grifter behavior.

2

used the word male for humans generalized "men" cited no proof

BINGO!

1
feddit.online

The message is good because Elon Musk fucking sucks.

I don't like Pizzacake because of the vote botting, mass censorship, many misandrist posts, she draws rape porn, I don't personally like her artstyle, and her sense of humour falls completely flat for me. She's also the kind of political activist who starts supporting a cause a few years after it becomes maintstream in her circles.

0
lemmy.world

Sheesh I didn't know she did all that. I don't think you can blame someone for not being ahead of the curve. Which posts are misandrist btw?

2
feddit.online

I refuse to go through her archive for any reason. Look it up. People talk in depth about her on YouTube, she has her own KiwiFarms page, redditors (she is an infamous redditor) talk about most of her controversies.

-1
lemmy.world

I tried to look at a lot of examples and can't find anything problematic other than her being a Democrat.

6
balderdashreply

Lemmings have decided to upvote Pizzacakeslop and downvote anyone who criticizes these comics. They're lazy as hell, and there are many better artists out there, but Pizzacake has a winning formula of posting agreeable political positions.

Doesn't matter that the art is bad and the comics aren't funny, people agree with the main point.

2
feddit.online

Maybe, maybe not. Kind of hard to believe all those votes are legit when every single comment section is people talking about the controversies. They definitely picked the correct comic panel to post to this audience, if anything.

sh.itjust.works

Do you really think that it's impossible that maybe you dislike something that is actually well liked by many people?

2

I expect to spread the word that Pizzacake is a bad person and that her fans are obnoxious idiots.

-1

The PRIMARY reason Elon Musk is ALLOWED to hold that much nonexistent money is because the alt-right pipeline starts in middle school, where kids are starting to form their own identities, and having the biggest autistic tech bro HOLD the most money INFLUENCES the youth - primarily unsocialized boys - thus resulting in this swath of a demographic positively influenced by Musk to consciously and unconsciously choose to go into STEM, thus ensuring the next generation of Americans has enough XYZ workers as They predict They will need in ten years. That what it means when your culture is engineered; we create multiple pipelines to get boys to do the work to become men, cuz the girls generally know what to do BUT THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS ACROSS AXISES!

-4

Subtle, even by her standards.

She really does just win arguments in her head and write them down.
