i'm sure canceling the only shows on their networks anyone actually still watches (as pathetic as those rating are now) will work out wonders for them

Already has. Instead of a $20m annual loss running Colbert, they’ve made instant profit by selling the 2hr slot to Byron Allen outright. So they make money whatever the ratings, and don’t have to pay for the content.
