SGU-esque SG-1 and SGA
Started rewatching SG-1 for the... I've lost count, but it's definitely more than five. Anyway, watching some of the "innocent" early episodes, such as when

I wish they could remake the whole series in the same dark, gritty, sweaty, bloody, somber, docu style like SGU. 😊
The exploration and explicit trust between everyone and competency porn in the show is what made Stargate so incredible.
Then they did sgu and it died because it broke what the show was about and did something dumb and edgy.
The thing is they realized this and pivoted just to get cancelled.
I was hating SGU as much as anyone and stopped early S2 just around the time the Stargate spirit started to bleed in - I just couldn't notice it yet at the time. When I tried again, by the second half of S2 I loved it and was genuenly sad there is no more.
I just finished sg-1 and Atlantis for the first time. I’ve been binge watching according to the release date watch order.
I didn’t even finish the first episode of sgu and I’m not going it.
I really disliked how the “genius” was just some kid who was seemingly unemployed but was somehow this genius that ends up getting by a job because of a video game.
I always hated those storylines. They are so dumb.
I mean it's fair. I never liked the "it gets better after season 1, trust me!" arguments.
But I did end up enjoyinf S1 as well, when going in expecting to hate it again - but when I introduced my wife to the series, she wanted to give it a go. I went in treating it as not a Stargate show, but a show that just happens to have a stargate in it and that helped me to go through S1.
thats like wheel of time and the rings of power for me. It annoys me as a fan but if you can just think of it as a generic fantasy thing then its alright.
I hope they don't. I am not a fan of the SGU style of filming.
