[Steam Controller] As a Canadian, I am having a hard time justifying the controllers $150.00 Price point.
I could easily see myself picking it up for $100 just like in the states. But because of the currency exchange rate, We're getting hit with a 50 dollar price hike.
Meanwhile the Xbox controller I bought was only $89.00.
Do any of my fellow Canadians also feel this way?
Nope, the feature list of the steam controller is much greater than a standard Xbox controller. The price point it deserves to be compared to would be the Xbox elite controller which retails here for $250. If you’re worried about cost check out the 8-bitdo ultimate 2, which will get you Hal effect sticks and the extra programable buttons.
The steam controller should be compared to an Xbox elite controller and not a basic controller. The elite sells anywhere from 150$ to 250$ depending where you look.
Wow just buy an 8bitdo controller. $89 for an Xbox controller is a scam at it's quality.
I'm waiting to buy a steam controller but I'm just hoping it doesn't go up instead. The price seems justified as long as build quality is good.
Whenever I want to justify buying something that's a bit too expensive, I think about it in terms of how much it will cost per time unit of use I expect to get. So, if you're going to get 100's of hours of fun out of it, then it's only a $1/hour or whatever works for you.
yeah but that Xbox Controller you just bought is gonna get drift within a few months. I've gone through several, I'm happily paying that extra $50 for a Steam controller.
So no, I don't feel the same as you.
Controllers are a lot more expensive than I thought! I feel like not long ago $40 got you the standard name brand model and $60 was the upgrade.
So vote with your wallet and tell that yacht enjoying narcissist that the price point is wrong.
Problem is, nobody will or not enough people will and those at the top continue to exploit those at the bottom.
