Tom Waitz run

Every first weekend of May, many cities in Norway has a Tom Waits Run, that is basically a bar to bar run, some times with added quizzes and other fun add-ons. Is this an occurrence anywhere else as well?

in the u.s. its incredibly common, year-round thing and is referred to as a 'bar crawl'. it can be from an organized event with rules and participating bars to just a buncha guys wanting to hit a string of places.

Bar crawls are not uncommon here either, it's just that the Tom Waitz one here is a specific, annual event that happens in most larger cities in the same day.

It’s so common that many bachelor/ette parties will include a bar crawl as part of or as the main event, sometimes even spanning multiple days

Like the artist, not unknown for liking alcohol. We have lots of annual runs named after famous people, so it is a similarity to the known, but a drinking event rather than a sporty one. Just hit me how weird it might seem, hence I had to ask if it's a thing elsewhere.

It is most likely solely for the name sake, as the former marathon runner Grete Waitz has had a run called the Grete Waitz Run around the same time every year.

That is pretty cool. I have never heard of similar here, but I would love to time a visit to Norway to participate, out of decades of appreciating Tom Waits.

It's not a lot of Waitz appreciation happing, but a fun event I can recommend either way.
