I finally blocked /showerthoughts because of all the obviously AI low effort posts by brand new accounts.

Like, I get how it's hard for mods to stop it, but there's so many posts that were just nonsensical rambling that said nothing but copied the cadence of classic "deep" thoughts.

And since it's a continual churn of new accounts, you can't just block the ones doing it. Some communities are just magnets for slop unfortunately

Asking AI to help with formulating is an easy way to come across like an AI. And Lemmy is the wrong audience for that.

Aha. You caught me. I am an AI pretending hic to be a human. I am not a real human I swear.

I don't, but some posts look AI as f*ck, so I have been asking myself the same question.

That's a great question and gets to the heart of what makes a great community. Using AI? We're not a reddit clone, we're a community of free-thinkers!

Not directly, but if I am posting about an actor or Director I will do google searches on their body of work.

Of if I am digging into an TIL thread I will look things up about that topic before I post.

I mostly use it to proofread longer comments, check them for grammatical errors, and do minor fixes to the flow. I don't remember ever getting accused of it, so I'm probably not overdoing it.
