One of my coworkers prepped a salad for me once, without me asking. Halved grapes, sweet potato, romaine & kale, chopped hard boiled eggs, and other stuff I don't remember - with some homemade balsamic mixed in. I felt like it had all the textures of the rainbow except pudding.

It was really weird for me, but it was alright. I had no choice because she made a whole bowl for me beside her own @.@

Olives do not belong in egg salad.

I mean, if you put it in because you like it, that's fine. You do you. But I wouldn't eat it.

I’ve had it and I liked it. I prefer little pickles like cornichons though and you can’t have both.

The only place olives belong are crushed for oil or in the trash

My egg salad sandwich at a Colorado courthouse cafeteria yesterday did not have olives in it. I'm not sure I've seen that before. But I could totally see it, especially since I've seen an olive since garnish on a deviled egg which is basically egg salad with the white as a boat for the rest. That was probably in the Midwest

Green olives are excellent in egg salad. To my taste, egg salad needs something to keep it from being bland: Dijon mustard, hot sauce, olives, salami are all options that work well.

I am from the US but have no reason to think any of them are common here. Olives and salami are ideas I got from The Charlie Brown Lunchbag Cookbook that I picked up from the bookmobile as a kid. It had a ton of surprisingly adventurous sandwich recipes.

All you people saying "no way" should try it. Unless you are barbarians with no taste for olives.

Never done it, but I do put them on my deviled eggs. I wouldn't personally mix it with the egg salad, but it would be a topping of the sandwich. I will for sure be doing this next egg salad batch I make though. I'm not sure why I've never tried it nor ever heard it. In the Midwest US.

Egg salad and deviled eggs are very adjacent. Anything that works in one, can work in the other.

My mom made egg salad with Miracle Whip and sweet pickle relish, plus a little mustard, salt, and pepper. She grew up on a farm in Michigan.

I don't eat egg salad anymore, but I would add green olives, I like them.

I'm particular about the temperature at which I eat eggs. Personally couldn't do cold egg salad at all.
