If I were to throw a live semi-flightless bird as hard as I can, would it be safe and unharmed provided I launched it into thin air, and I held it as gently as I could during the throw?

I guess the throw would be similar to that of shotput.

I was in the shower and started wondering if cock-tossing could be a viable sport if all competitors (cock-fondlers, I guess) prioritized animal wellbeing over winning.

Yeah, I forgot to specify that I was thinking of birds that can maneuver into a soft landing. I think penguins are dealing with enough already anyway.

I don't think of a penguin as semi flightless, i believe it's considered flightless. A chicken would be semi-flightless.

I've had chickens explicitly enjoy being tossed and thrown so they could do a soft landing. They ran up to me over and over and once picked up either went for a cuddle or wings wide in anticipation.

It's worth noting that I edited in the "semi" prefix after they replied, because while that's what I meant, the unedited post made it seem like I wanted to toss ostriches around.

Sanctuary / rescue workers might do a gentle toss with some animals if it fits in with their training / recovery.
