Downside: Nightmarish war in Europe wrecking the continent worse than anything we've seen since WW2.
Upside: We're getting some exciting new innovations in Meshnets.
I don't live in Russia myself, but close enough that the Kremlin is the reason for my investment in mesh networks these last couple of years.
Meshtastic ftw
My RAK is actually on its way to me in the mail right now. Looking forward to mapping out any neighboring nodes in my area to figure out which mountains need a router installed.
My rak is... Still not shipped despite ordering it Monday last week. Hope they catch up on orders I'm itching to put up a good rooftop node lol
It seems I spoke too soon. Upon further investigation it turns out mine hasn't shipped yet either. Checking 3rd party vendors, it seems they're all sold out. From what I've gathered, they ship directly from manufacturing, so they're probably working through an order backlog.
Speak of the devil, I just got a shipping email like 10 minutes ago. There's hope after all!
About time, 11 days after placing the order:
Wack.
If I still don't get an order update by next Monday I'll contact their customer support tbh, just to know when to expect it.

Wonder if grad and .ml will be accessible? Might get quiet there 🤔
None of them actually live under the governments they idolize.
If they did, they wouldn't idolize them.
If they did, they wouldn’t be able to not idolize them.
If they did, they’d be in the gulags pretty quick.
would love to find out if any mesh solutions are being used over there.
There are a lot off nodes there, that publish their position to mqtt :)

Meshtastic can work in this scenario, but with default GPS broadcast turned on is a terrible idea if the goal is communicating outside state observation.
