@Sam lemmyverse.net is a good one for finding communities that aren't local.
Fediwall.social is also good for finding people to follow on the more microbloggy fediverse instances.
#^https://joinfediverse.wiki/ is good for comparing different softwares if your friends are more technically inclined, and won't be scared off by options
