I was planning on buying one this year for the first time in a while, but I'm not gonna own shit with that piece of fuck's face on it.

For people who don't go to national parks a lot, it's probably cheaper to just get day passes. People who only go to a single park a lot can also get an annual pass for just that park at the fee gate. You can also put a sticker over his mugshot, just don't block the text.

I got a spoonbill one in December to avoid this. You could try asking at an REI or something if they have leftovers that they could punch for December.

Yeah the lawsuit cites a law that states the photo that won the photography contest has to be on the card. I saw a reddit post of someone talking about this and I guess if you renew your annual pass before these cards were issued, you had the option of them hole punching the older 2025 card which featured a bird from Everglades NP (which a park ranger also told me they did do this, but it's too late for me now)

Also ironic given the fact that he wants to sell off our park lands to the highest bidder.

I'm so glad my disabled pass means I won't need to buy one of these.

I bought my pass on 12/30/25 so hopefully when I renew it will be in 2027 and will have switched back to pictures

I had no idea about the new card when I bought my newest pass. If they had given me a card with his picture I'd probably try to save up for a nonresident pass. But at $350 total outlay ($75 for yearly + $275 for yearly nonresident) it's hard to get your money back unless you live by a park or are planning to hit a bunch with intentionality. I feel like I spend a lot of time in national parks but only go around 5 times in a summer season and 4 or 5 in the winter (when it's free sometimes.)
