Probably the slowest year for board games I've had since I started tracking

2025 was a real kick in the butt so I just didn't have as much time for games, plus I've been playing more 40k in general which I always waffle on if I should include in here or not.

My group's made some good progress on Frosthaven and we're hoping to actually complete it next year, and another group and I finished Clank 2 (and also finished Clank Legacy 1 finally! But it doesn't show on here because my wife and I had a single game left, but the couple we play with moved so it took over a year to get that last game in).

We also went to Japan this year, which ruled, and Let's Go To Japan has been a blast to play post that trip.

What have you all been playing this year???

what did you use to track your plays? I still haven't settled on a nice way to do so

The screenshot is from BGStats. It’s fantastic and well worth the (low) price.

Here’s mine, although I’ll be playing more games tonight.

Wooo No Thanks! I don't think I've seen anyone else with this on their played before, and it's one of our favorite games to take camping.

It’s a fantastic filler, it’s a frequent warmup while we wait for people to show up at our meetups.

Power Grid is a game I've played twice and...can't tell if I ever want to play it again. It's so math-y, yet I think that its market system is so elegant.

An app called BG Stats, and I dig it. Very cost cost of entry and then the only ongoing monetization is for stuff like advanced stats and cloud sync, which I sign up to because I like the product and want him to keep developing, not even because I use that stuff.

I keep chucking my free Google Play credits at it when they are about to expire, for the same reason! I'm currently paid up to 2030 😀

3

Oh got can do that? I never but apps so they keep expiring. Thanks!

Nice line-up of games in here! I keep meaning to get back to StS; I'm halfway through a run with a friend and I really should just reset it and play with other folks as it's been over a year now haha

I mean, I dunno.

It's fun, but there's a bit too much accounting for my taste. I like the multiplayer aspect, but it's slower than the PC version, and it's missing a lot of content.

And twice we played it, we finished it with absolute ease.

I got Heat for Christmas so I've only played one practice lap so far. Need to play that again.

Mine.

I'm not sure why Can't Stop is on there as I've only played it on Yucata and it hasn't been on there for a few years. Maybe some missing plays imported and have ended up being attributed to this year.

Faraway is excellent! It also doesn't take very long to play, so it's the current go-to when time is limited.

Playing cards in one order and scoring them in the other is fun!

Board game arena maybe, if you sync from there?

1

Could be, but I don't think I've been on it all year. I don't use BGA much as a I find the silly time limits on taking turns annoying.

Ooo a full Charterstone play through, nice! That had some fun surprises each game, and really set the minimum bar for me with legacy games where I want something new every time we play.

1

Was not the best year for boardgames here, either. But we still had fun. Fewer big games and more of the silly shorter ones in '25.

You reached the end
