Lucky Ned for getting his W-9 by New Years Day. I don't usually have mine available until close to the end of January.

Though he is self-employed, so maybe putting together his own W-9 is what he means?

Quarterly taxes (September 1 - December 31) are due January 15th since he is self employed.

Oh yeah. I forgot about that side of it. I was assuming personal taxes and the self-employed bit was just an afterthought on how he has his W-9 so early. Good catch!

That is what I spent yesterday figuring out. It was not fun or easy. Had to double and triple check my numbers.

*laughs and points at the USA mockingly with the rest of the world*

Why do you accept this ludicrous system of "doing taxes" when it's just a scheme for private companies to get your money as you pay them for doing it / systems for doing them yourself, even when the government already knows everything it needs to.

It's called return-free filing. Here's Adam explaining it for Americans.

Why do you accept this ludicrous system

Well, I don't accept it, but a lot of Americans do, for some reason. It doesn't make any sense to me, but then there are a lot of things about my country that don't make a lot of sense to me. Honestly, I often feel like a foreigner in my own country, even though I was born here and have lived here all my life.

I'm Finnish, but same.

Happy new year, if it's possible
