Why would I remove my laptop fans? They're the ones that keep up their morale and cheer them on.

Yeah, and the heatsink is the only thing that serves decent food

Many years ago, when the first quad core CPU's hit the market, I had a friend working in Intel. I got myself a Q6600 quad core for pennies on the euro and promptly installed Gentoo. Oh how I made that CPU work for the pennies I paid for it.

Honestly it was the only thing at the time to tax a quad core. Most games were not well optimised for 4 cores and more or less nothing else was anything but single threaded.

gentoo isn't environmentally friendly

but jokes aside though, does every single software update is to be compiled locally? If so then it is quite of a power hungry system for a desktop use. I'd understand if gentoo is tailored more on minimal server use that updates much less frequently.
