Yes, the USA has been bombing civilian ships off the coast of Venezuela and just the other day captured an oil tanker ship. It's actually among the reasons stated for Pete Hegseth's upcoming Impeachment vote.
This is far from an appearance issue. 18 Republicans also opposed the budget. If every Democrat had joined the 18 Republicans in saying no, this budget would not have been approved. Every politician -- Democrat or not -- who approved this budget needs to be voted out, no questions (if we get the chance). Primary the Democrats who voted "Yea".
"There's always money for bombs" but $900 Billion is absurd; and Democrats are screwing everyone over by encouraging this war. We do not want MAGA to have Wartime Powers. We do not want JD Vance, Stephen Miller, and Mike Johnson to have Wartime Powers.

This is usually by design to protect risky seats and give the impression that they were opposed for political points. In essence those 18 Republicans are only enabled to vote no because they know Dems are supporting this passing. If more Dems voted no, less Republicans would have.
This bill also removed the right to repair requirement for military contracts. So if that $100 million jet from Lockheed martin breaks then we have to pay them whatever they want to fix it.
This creates a great incentive for the military contractors to build quality durable hardware ...
Just grabbing the first nay on the list which is Eli Crane. He appears to be a nationalist, which would make sense why he voted no. Still an undeserving piece of shit and a waste of limited resources.
Isn't this the spending authorization bill they pass every year since 1961?
It's not specifically about Venezuela.
Notably among Democrats, it's mostly the New Democrat Coalition (older, moderate, Clinton era 3rd way) voting for this & the Congressional Progressive Caucus (newer, liberal, progressive) voting against it.
They're a big tent party.
I'm sad I'm still sometimes surprised at the depravity and shittyness of the US government and their violent, corrupt, evil handlers. They are the most evil people on earth running the most evil empire the world has ever seen. May they all burn in hell.
The War Powers Resolution requires the president to notify Congress within 48 hours of committing armed forces to military action and forbids armed forces from remaining for more than 60 days, with a further 30-day withdrawal period, without congressional authorization for use of military force (AUMF) or a declaration of war by the United States.
Oh, now the MIC does something? Strange, they seemed to be oddly quiet when it comes to Ukraine. I'm always a bit surprised the MIC isn't all in on sending both old military stock and newly developed stuff there for testing and recognition. So much money to be made. It can also be quite the advertisement if your 30-year-old tanks can crush the mighty modern Russian army. Including the invincible T14 Armata shown off in 2015.
This was their times to shine, and even the most hardened anti-war peace lovers would have been forced to thank them for it.
Yeah, building upon a theory of winning local elections to enact change into a democratic socialism with minimal bloodshed and without any risk of authoritarians taking control. 100x more palatable than Tankie dribble for the general public.
Iraq wars wetr a lot of horrible things....But oh my god did it realize efficiency. Iraq went from a poorly producing oil country to the fourth highest oil producer in the world.
The Dems should be blocking all votes like the GOP did under Obama. Fuck them.
Unfortunately that’s not their job. They are bribed to ensure NDAA always goes through. Voter sentiment on yet another war for oil be damned.
Until we stop the legalized bribery this will not change.
Evidently voter sentiment isn't strong enough to vote for someone else!
Ah yes, the candidate fron tge other party who voted yes.
ABWD at work
The US is going all Russia on them, airspace violations, stealing ships and stuff

The list of votes is here

Thank you for linking this, as this is indeed enraging but my oh my this is data gore if I have ever seen it...
Am I looking at a spreadsheet with the front panel unscrewed leaving all the wires hanging out or something?
Good Lord, what a day to have eyes.
Wow, that is one of the worst diagrams I've seen in quite a while.
I move my mechanized infantry from hex 3042 to hex 4035 for 6VP
Is this Minesweeper?
Similar number of red flags on the map anyway

Bluth: there's always money to bomb Afghanistan, Michael
No, we’re not allowed to criticize Democrats on Lemmy. It automatically makes you Russian MAGA.

Not surprising, about %50 of democrats are impostors. They would easily switch to republican party if they riskrd losing their seats.
There's a reason we scoff at the notion of "far left" in US politics. Their options are right wing and fascist.
You forget how conservative alot of democrats are and have been for decades.
Guess US needs more oil huh
Oil? Huh? Who said anything about oil, bitch you cooking?
"Nah, I heard oil... THAT SHIT MINE!"
Squares and Rectangles....
Every Republican is a corrupt politician, but not ever corrupt politician is a Republican.
The logical solution is getting rid of corrupt politicians regardless of party.
If you are living in the US, you exist under that system.
So maybe do whatever your plan is (anarchism, accelerationism, socialism) WHILE using the pre-existing system?
If one's plan is accelerationism, then maybe it's best to not do that plan.
Damn, you sure made a lot of assumptions off of someone asking US citizens to make use of their privilege to vote.
You know there are multiple ways to affect change and you don't have to choose just one, right?
The House of Representatives is basically the Board of Directors for the American Military Industrial Complex
That implies they hold influence and aren’t just purchased pawns
Imperialism has always been bipartisan.
Dems gonna dem
I want to know why those 18 Republicans voted against it
They didn’t receive sufficient contributions from the military industrial complex?
Just grabbing the first nay on the list which is Eli Crane. He appears to be a nationalist, which would make sense why he voted no. Still an undeserving piece of shit and a waste of limited resources.

Maybe they wanted a version of the bill with more money and weapons to Israel?
Such a wicked nation
Needs link to source.

I've lost all hope in this shithole country.
stay out of spite, and start organizing
have you been studying in socialist theory? if so, then is it okay i can have some tips on making studying socialist theory easy and fun?
time to organize
jfc all it takes is a fake war for the corporate Dems to throw everything away ... terrible
Because they get filthy rich on no bid contracts and insider trading just ask Pelosi
Democrats REALLY wanting to loose midterms, huh?..
I'm sad I'm still sometimes surprised at the depravity and shittyness of the US government and their violent, corrupt, evil handlers. They are the most evil people on earth running the most evil empire the world has ever seen. May they all burn in hell.
I mean that’s unfortunately just the normal military budget lol. There’s no extra money in there for a war. That’s the peace time budget.
"Peace"
peace(and a couple forever wars, covert ops, and constant posturing)
Are they just going to bomb to make life miserable in Venezuela? There are not enough troops for an invasion.
Hopefully Trump doesn't have the power to do any of that regardless of the minor YoY increase in military budget on display here.

Does this belong in this community? Honestly curious. Fits the format, but not the theme.
Well there was funding for Israel in it you see, so they had to.
This bill getting funding is a SOP vote. No one dares not pass this.
94 Democrats dared, but thats under the assumption that a different bill would take its place.
It's not like there's anything better to spend the money on.
I wonder how much he's getting paid to for this or if this is all a favor for the previous "campaign contributions"?
does anyone have any tips on making studying socialist/communist theory easy and fun as well?
