Globular springtails have a unique tail-like appendage under their belly called a furca, which they use to jump and escape from predators. This structure allows them to perform impressive jumps, often flipping through the air as they do so.

This guy belongs to the family Sminthuridae.

I used to count mites and collembola under a scope all summer. Talk about tedious.
