Do fascists actually like the game? I thought it'd be too much reading for them.

According to the Woke Content Detector it is "Not Recommended" their reason being:

Contains overtly pro-LGBTQ+ messaging. Features multiple LGBTQ+ characters, including the player character. Heavy social commentary regarding communism. Whether pro or anti is unclear.

I find the last part really funny and also fitting for the meme.

Features multiple LGBTQ+ characters, including the player character.

This sentence guarantees that they haven't actually played the game.

The one which unlocks HDB into having realised he’s probably bisexual.

Did you not read the Solution text in the link you sent me? It let's you find out about Kim, but it says nothing about HDB's own sexuality. In fact, it implies that he's not, and we already know he's straight because of a certain other development.

Yes, I know, but the game would have made that a bigger deal, if that was actually part of his identity. Instead, it explicitly tells you to "stop obsessing about it".

i remember seeing a positive review of one that said, like, "if you play as a fascist everyone hate you in game, but so in real life" lol

This is like all of the techbros hailing Wolf of Wall Street as a masterpiece.

Yes, with a 36 month sentence. For all of those crimes. After he fucked up a sting operation.

The biggest lesson out of the whole movie was: Don't get too greedy once the fed catches you, just take the plea deal and you'll be set for life.

Which is a pretty fucking sad and unjust state of affairs.

i think jordan helford would've gotten a life sentence. oh yeah and naomi should've got the upper hand and punches jordan as well. seriously!

i mean...it is, that is 100% how every bank/finance/investing group works (yes, even the one supposededly protecting your capital. to the tourist-bourgeois here pretending they're workers)...

nobody, and i do mean nobody, managing your money for you gives a single fuck about your $...they're using it to further their own aims in bull markets. this is a country of gamblers and the stock market is the biggest casino around, pulling out 200-300%+ of your working capital yoy is incredibly easy to do when you know how it works. it's laughably easy to print $ in a bull market

the entire world uses the US's unregulated financial markets (and the massively under-educated workforce, rich and poor, paying into it mindlessly) as easy exit liquidity, that's arguably the only reason why most of the world actually puts up with our shit...not our bloated military but how easy it is for their rich to take $ from us and our rich

The game treats you like shit and treats you as an unhinged edgelord, playing up the eugenics angle instead of the (more rational) "took my job" angle

Not advocating either stance obviously, but I can see why hard right-leaning folk might not feel understood by the game

I mean, the game ruthlessly mocks them in satirical fashion, but fascists have always had poor media literacy so they could still like it similarly to how conservatives thought the Colbert Report was serious.

Put satire side by side with an ironically racist channer, the two differ only in writing quality

I’m still disappointed that Stephen Colbert took the DNC’s money and switched parties he was a genius at conservative commentary.

colbert was just playing a character in the colbert report. what do you think of stalin?

3

lol, i honestly cant tell if that guys comment is sarcasm or not...how do people not see Colbert was playing a character.

subtlety really is dead, goddamn

I know, but there are semi-rational arguments the game could have made (market protectionism, cultural heritage, pros of homogenous soceities, etc.) for the fascists and it simply doesn't

To pretend that all hard right-wingers are just idiots foaming at the mouth, instead of desperate poor people watching their livelihoods and (perhaps warped) values undermined by foreign labour, is really disingenous.

(I should pause here and say I am hard-left, I'm just playing advocate)

I find the lack of disco superstar representation to be disturbing.

They say the world isn’t ready for a rock-and-roll cop. No one wants their state monopoly on violence to be mixed with celebrity worship. They 'claim to know' it would be dangerous for detectives to rise to the ranks of demigods and have sexual encounters with barely-legal cover girls. It would be 'insane', they say. To all this you say: Fuck off and die. In a cool voice. You people have no idea how good these cops are gonna get. They're gonna crack twenty cases a day. In the future, cops will be like astrophysicists. Or prime ministers. Or prophets. And you’re the first one.

I love that the froggy hat is so iconic and yet another example of something only accessible through a failed check. No other game has made failing as fun as Disco Elysium.

6

I love that they're still not clear if it's pro or anti communist but the mere discussion infuriates them.

Also love that they assume just because their Henry did a speed run for dick sucking it makes him canonically queer.
