I disagree about awful. They've delivered two mediocre seasons so far. Which is to say some storylines have been awful, but some storylines have been great.

I really enjoyed the Celebrimbor storyline last season for example.

Season 2 was much better IMO, though that's just that*: my opinion lol

The source material was already gonna be a clusterfuck to deal with, and they are doing "OK" interpreting.

Edit: spelling

We started the first season. But kept forgetting to keep watching it. Now we cancelled prime. Maybe some day we will watch it all.

Mine just ended in September. I plan on buying a month subscription to watch the Mighty Nein cartoon, but Amazon is no longer getting the yearly fee out of me.

It's probably being funded by all the tech bro Tolkien "fans" in Silicon Valley.

Fellowship of the Ring (the movie) turns 25 next year. I'm shocked that there isn't a reboot in the works already.

Maybe there will be a TV series adaptation if the Harry Potter show performs well.

3

Nah, It's really not nearly as bad as some of the true believers want it to be.

Enjoyed both. I feel like they did great for season 2. I’m happy so far with the product. I must be the minority. But I enjoy it.

Me and my wife also like the show. Isn't the best show ever made, it's OK. Not everything needs to be 10/10 to be enjoyable.

I dropped Rings of Power immediately after watching the first episode.

It had that "Hollywood exec writes a Tolkien fanfic" vibe.

There is and it was, surprisingly, better than the 1st one. Except one tiny little thing: being better than shit doesn't mean it's gold. It still sucked major ass, just not as bad as 1st season.

I distinctly remember this being cancelled...

Maybe you're thinking of The Wheel of Time?

And nothing of value was lost. As someone who has read that series front to back 4 times, I hated how that show tried to make WoT into fucking grimdark.

I have also read the series several times and was enjoying the adaptation. I am quite annoyed that it was killed by neckbeardery.

I'm sorry for you. But I have to say I enjoyed S1 as a non-reader. Didn't bother with S2 as it was cancelled before getting to it.

Fair enough. If you haven't read the books then I've heard it's a fine enough show. I should have written "nothing of value to me was lost."

As a fan of Witcher and Lord of the Rings - I understood completely where you were coming from, so no worries.

I love the dwarf stuff they're doing. It's honestly not a bad show, don't listen the the haters.

I didn't mind season one but I literally never had any desire to watch season 2 despite that.

I might binge watch the series once all 5 seasons are out.

3

I've only ever seen the movies when they were in theaters and only read the hobbit in school, but season 2 had some interesting things with Sauron and Calimbrimbor that I'd never experienced before and really liked.

This reminds me that I should probably go finish the first season.
