So apparently I jumped the gun a little

So apparently it's not that time of year. At least not officially.

"In March 2025, the organization announced its closure. Interim executive director Kilby Blades published a YouTube video the same day citing financial struggles and "community vitriol" as the reasons for closure."

It seems that due to various reasons, the website has shut down, and the organisation has ceased to be operational.

Twenty five years after it was founded, it has been closed down.

That's........ I don't know. I am - I admit - somewhat surprised.

I'm going to give this some thought.

Oh, NaNoWriMo has always been about Unofficial Stuff. Heck, a lot of people were (and still are) taking part in NaNoWriMo even without knowing there was an official organisation behind it! I've taken part in NaNo since 2010, I'm not letting a little problem like the death of the organisation to slow me down, har.

Last year, I was not surprised that NaNo org seemingly failed to meet the fundraiser goal (weird stuff happened and the org's response was, frankly, less than stellar - was the first year in a long row when I decided not to donate myself), but I was actually super surprised that they decided to shut down entirely.
