Gentle reminder: Linux Foundation is a corporate lobbying group, not a part of the FOSS community
Oh fun
I mean... Are they a bad lobbying group?
Linux foundation has the most expensive training courses for Linux. They are not even the best.
But since their name is associated with Linux, their courses became the standard.
At the end of the day, they became a shitty training organization that is over charging everyone and everything.
I don't expect anything good coming from them.
That'll be good, I think? 🤔
One always has to worry. Also there's lots of surrounding crap like react native. I wonder if that's included.
Is react still important anyway? I figured something else would be the current hotness by now.
React and RN are still huge. The first sentence of the article also says that RN is being moved too.
From what I understand, React is still very popular and it's the usual recommendation for those who are learning web dev frameworks.
React Native is not as popular for new projects though, and I usually see people recommending Flutter
Svelte has been gaining popularity for a number of years and is one of the best alternative frameworks IMO
Regardless of the current trends, react was the go to for long enough to make it ubiquitous far longer than it deserves to due to corporate technological stagnation. Take Java for example, it's been in this limbo state for a about a decade-better alternatives for servers exist and are widely adopted, yet it's still used a lot.
gross. react is a scourge and should never have been created.
just like typescript?
never seen a TS or React project that wasn't a flaming pile of shit, and I've seen numerous piles of shit in my career (wrote a couple even).
When you say "just like typescript?" Are you implying vanilla JavaScript is better? I don't think typescript is considered declarative unless you're talking about jsx/tsx files (react)
sorry just to clarify, everything past ECMAScript 5.1 sucks.
Are they referring here specifically to MVC/MV* frameworks, where React alone offers just the View, or are they referring to a more general notion of what constitutes a “full framework” that I’ve forgotten?
Since Linux Foundation is a 501c6 corporate-controlled steering group, this is a non-story. Nothing meaningful will change.
Years ago, I instinctively chose vuejs and nuxtjs, to learn for a project, because they werent react and related to zuckbook. This may change with the new direction. Maybe after a year to see the direction it takes.
With executive director still being a zuckling, it isn't much different than what it was, is it?
