It's funny, set my phone to only recieve 2g calls while in the same room as the speakers a few days ago. Instant blast to the past when i could predict phonecalls. Still fun doing it today!

almost 20 years ago I downloaded off limewire a cover of Toxicity by System of a Down, purely instrumental and listened to it through highschool

the artist listed in the file's metadata was Trans Siberian Orchestra. back around 2005 finding out that they never covered Toxicity was somewhere between challenging and impossible so I accepted it and forgot about it

recently I wanted to re-find that song, maybe on Spotify or YouTube or wherever. only this year did I realize that that artist was never correct, and googling held nothing for me

in one of the vanishingly rare successful uses of a large language model I got ChatGPT to suggest artists from that time that might have covered that song and after a few tries dismissing the most popular artists it spat out Vitamin String Quartet and I get to listen to a higher quality version of the song I first heard around 2005

i somehow ended up with a band's demo casette. i never knew what band, a friend saw them in a nearby town. listened to it for 20 years before i tried shazam and then found their website. they're still touring!

Dammit! It was at 80%!! And of course I can't resume it. I'll stay up late and just restart at 12am.

I work in a university, I can think of 3 offices in my building that still have them.

Random crackling noises and a weird high pitched tone, until you find the perfect potentiometer position for it to work, but then it's either way too loud or way too quiet

Given that I have some speakers from the same era hooked up to monitor three, currently it's (Neko)nomicon by Obkatiekat. Also monitor 3 is a HP Pavilion, I want to play Arcanum in roughly correct resolution.

Nice. I spent the most time with Compton's Interactive Encyclopedia on the Sega CD. So good. I knew every (multimedia) entry. Can still quote the portion of MLK's "I have a dream speech" that was on there. Developed a crush or two on a few entries. Desperate times.

I don't think I had those exact speakers, but it makes me think of the Windows 98 startup sound and the times it was so loud that I had to scramble to turn the volume knob down.

That song from Dumb and Dumber about the vegetarian girl that loves septuagenarians or something.

I remember the Crazy Frog sounds first from a site called the "insanity test". It was just all those race car noises with a picture of a race car and it said something like "if you cannot look at this for 30 seconds without laughing you are insane."

Oh, Axel the crazy frog? No, my post was about Harold Faltermayer's Axel Foley Theme recreated in ModTracker.
