An Ambassador should not be surprised about the host countries attitude to his homeland. He should be the first to know about this, and the reasons.

A GOOD ambassador.

However surprised can also mean aware of the situation and finds it incongruent with their beliefs. It doesn't necessarily mean lack of knowledge. The attitude to America has changed rapidly and harshly, but so has America.

As an American I'm with Canada on this. Also I doubt highly that it was "anti American" as much as it was "anti fascist assholes". The fascist assholes can't tell the difference.

39

As a Canadian, I am with Americans who are against this too. Stay strong.

21

But see he "hates" them with a reason. Or doesnt see it as "hate". He doesnt understand why Canadians speak bad about the US when its obvious all the awful things Trump says about Canada are so he can make a better deal.

He might understand it better if you tell him to think of it more like why his kids/grandkids hate him

3

Suck it up, Hoekstra. You made your bed, so lie in it. Or even better: tell Trump he’s an anti-democratic pumpkin and quit.

He'd shit his pants if he went to visit Europe.

In the previous Trump administration he was ambassador to the Netherlands and he made so much shit up about our country. People hated him

17

We had Grenell over here. Wanker seemed to think he was the Viceroy. I'd have trouble to explain his behaviour otherwise.

The Yanks can go fuck themselves.

So unrealistic. The bow goes above the bridge, not below it.

6

Well, reality can be disappointing for those who lost touch with the real world long ago.

No need, it's good to have a mouthpiece to the orange overlord telling him how shit his petty attempts at stirring shit are holding up.

Do you think he is functional in any way? Is he relaying Trumps incoherent babble to Canada, or is he providing insight on Canada to Trump?

The answer to both is no. He is a failure, too stupid to realize it.

5

He's successful enough at minding his keepers to be appointed ambassador. He's got all the qualifications he needs to work for the Chump administration!

2

Or too smart to bite the hand that feeds. Either way, whoever they'd send as a replacement won't be better, but possibly worse.

2

I actually like that he is such a douche nozzle. He is stirring up anti-american sentiment better than any other ambassador. Keep him in his job and FUCK the USA!

1

I used it too but then someone pointed out it’s not a violin. I can’t tell. It’s so tiny.

1

Does anyone actually believe these Fascists with their high-ground posturing anymore? Because it simply feels like shitty role-play at this point...

10

We never did here in Canada, hence the anti-American sentiment this fucknut is disappointed by.

7

That is because it is. Incidentally the kind of arrogant gaslighting language he uses is exactly the same language Russian ambassadors have been using since they invaded Ukraine.

There is just one rulebook for fascists, so it becomes pretty easy to predict and interpret their behaviour once you have learnt it (the rulebook being just read any part of history that involves fascists taking power in a country).

3

I saw the interview, this fucker had the AUDACITY to chastise Canadians for 'not being passionate about america' it incompetence weren't the defining trait of USians I would think his real mission is to fan the flames.

6

Someone else pointed out that this is the exact gameplan that Putin went with regarding Ukraine and Crimea

You reached the end
