Does this infringe on Nintendos new patents for summoning monsters and battling with them?

You're right! It also infringes on Nintendo's exclusive patent to (a) show things on a screen, (b) move said things with a controller, and (c) display written text via alphanumeric strings.

That's the kind of nonsense patent that when it's finally challenged in court by someone that can afford to stand up in court, it'll get struck down

And namco-bandai absolutely have that money, so we can expect nintendo to keep quiet if they know what's good for them.

This makes me realize the last time I interacted with Digimon was the age-old TV show that began with an Isekai.

I’m curious how the series has changed. Apparently some of the newer stories lean a bit darker?

It's always been pretty dark for a kids franchise. But yes, the latest game before Time Stranger was a much darker visual novel

The first, last and only time I've ever interacted with Digimon was the theme song for what I assume was the same show. To be fair, the song was pretty awesome.

Show was okay. Had some cool moments, but yeah, that theme song was a banger.

The newer anime have a few that are darker, some that are not. Quality varies but some are pretty enjoyable. Each one is standalone so it's easy to find ones you enjoy. And honestly the OG show is still enjoyable in it's silliness lol

Was excited about it until I saw the price. Now I'm just a bit sad.

Demo was fun, though.

The "demo" had DRM, so I'm guessing it might be the full-ish game with artificial boundaries set?
