I didn't even make it up to the Boardwalk before I started seeing raptors! One of the lovely people from East Coast Falcons was leaving with a hawk/falcon (I need to start learning other raptors the way I have owls) and she told me he always flaps his wings as they go down the ramp to the street. I suppose he realizes he's coming down, but he normally has to flap to come down, so it seems he still feels the need to "put on the brakes" when someone is carrying him.

A few steps down the boardwalk and I saw people gathered. I went to see what they were looking at, and it was another ECF person with Ozzy the Eurasian Eagle Owl! I met him and his handler a few years ago, and I think he was my first post here on Lemmy.

They've been keeping the seagulls in line here since 2019 and just got their contract renewed this year. It's always a blast seeing the birds in action or just looking menacing.
