I don't think they have any idea. Yes in Greece everything is car dependant.

Yeah, just returned from Athens - there’s even a highway running along the shore, and the city itself is swarming with cars.

I was thinking this. Reading the article, they're implying a Mediterranean layout. And I'm guessing Greece is the most Mediterranean they can get without scaring white folks.

TBH, when I visited Athens, it felt like the most car-centric capital I've ever visited in my life (haven't been to US though). Fascinating comparison to be :)
