Till you want to apply for a job but your bar isn’t green enough.

Then have the wealthy class try to distinguish themselves by always having a full green bar while the politicians balance your means to make the majority just miserable enough to always be light orange.

58

Exactly. My first thought seeing this was that shitty people are going to gamify making people more miserable now that they can see exactly how well they're doing.

12

Omg, you made a terrible idea terrifying. I think you nailed it in the head only they would keep at least 25% to 50% at the red limit just to incentivise the yellow bars.

If we want to talk about the current scales the greens would be holding us to a 60% red line rate. I'm not current but I'm guessing the average American living paycheck to paycheck is around 60% now.

10

Why is your mental fortitude going down, I'm just TALKING to you!?

19

“Why did you eat the entire glass of olives out of the fridge?”

Me pointing at my increasing mental health bar.

16

Damn, it would be a fun time every day at work with my coworkers constantly seeing my bar at 10-20% and slowly going down

I'd love to have boss music start playing when there are enemies nearby so I know it's time to leave.

That was my first thought. In a tech nerd website nobody thought of how bullies work? They'd have a field day with this.

Most of the people constantly wanking about mental health have never had a bad thing happen to them in their lives.

I'm a multiple healthbar boss! I break down but I keep going!

7

I've seen Scott Pilgrim. It would just be another way to sell you energy drinks which promise to improve your health bar.

5

When it gets low enough, it starts beeping like the health bar from LoZ LttP and takes itself out the rest of the way

5

My smart watch kinda does this. It has a concept called body battery that tries to calculate the amount of rest you get vs the amount of energy you use.

5

This would be awesome, I could go around hitting people with clutch complements, and moral support and see their heath bar go up.

4

That would stress me out, causing my health bar to go down, which would stress me out even more, causing my health bar to go down, which would....

4

Debuffs would be helpful as well so I know wtf is wrong with me

3

I feel like I have a Fallout style health bar, but instead of rad counters it's old age counters. My max available HP drops over time, with the space being filled up with pain. Not to mention permanent debuffs like "arthritis," and "bad knee."

2

i was really considering the rig from dead space!

was doing sketches, i mean it would just be LEDS and tubing, might be considered faddish though

That's the sanity bar, from Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. Except having a meltdown in that game was like, walking into a room and having a delusion that your controller is disconnected, or a cockroach crawls across the screen, or all your arms fall off.

That was a great game.

What that would actually mean is more empathy and more openness from everyone. Sounds good.

Would also be used to torture people to just before they died.

13

...

You're saying people being more open and empathetic would be bad because of torture? Or did you reply to my comment on accident?

Edit: Actually, I think I get it. I expressed myself badly in the comment above. I meant that more openness and empathy would be a realistic version of the stat bar thing, not that having magical stat bars would lead to more empathy and openness.

People used to feel that instinctively.

Then capitalism, especially in the US, incentivized people to always look "fit" so people hide their true emotions.
