Also, I believe it should be illegal for law enforcement to be incentived to make arrests. If I were in a position to write laws, I'd make it illegal for cops to get bonuses. Fuck the idea they get more money to ruin people's lives.
If there have to be bonuses, they should be reserved for when a situation is successfully de-escalated without violence. I wouldn't have a problem incentivizing a cop for defusing a situation properly. The fact that they still get paid bonuses after doing something shitty is where I take issue. And getting paid leave after killing someone? That's straight-up encouragement right there.
This is why we need to start shooting them. They're lawless criminals and we are merely defending ourselves.

Responding in kind would be shooting at cops that are about to shoot you. Here we're talking about cops detaining people. Shooting them would be illegal. If you doubt that go ask a lawyer before buying a gun.

Look, I 100% agree police is in the wrong here but the way the legal system is set up you can argue that in court. They detain you, put you in front of a judge and if you can demonstrate that your detention wasn't legal you will be freed. The law in no way allows you to shoot cops because you think they don't have the right to do something. Telling people to shoot cops is advocating for breaking the law, pure and simple. It's not for me to tell if US is at the stage when civil was is the only way out and you shoot just start killing each other but don't pretend it would somehow be legal.
I love it when a single comment is enough for me to know that blocking someone is the appropriate thing to do.

Well, I disagree that comparison is valid. When they commit violence, can I call for self defense? How long do you think you can stop the call for violence against the violent before the violent show up at your door?
What happens in the real world has no bearing on Lemmy. Do not call for violence here. It's a super simple rule.
