About 10 years ago I worked at a company that had broken ground on a solar factory in the UK. The government cancelled subsidies for solar and they pulled out.
Germany was the leading manufacturer of solar panels in the early 2010s. The government pulled subsidies to re-enter nuclear power and killed the entire industry
