"BAe harrier II technical manual war thunder leak" is it that hard to google?

With all the AI garbage, SEO and algorithm bullshit, search engines aren't what they used to be.

I'd rather ask the person making the claim to provide evidence, which really isn't a big ask.

That is too much text for someone who is too lazy to google lol

Buddy, we are on a discussion forum. Search results come to us, not the other way around.

Yeah, why would anyone come to a discussion thread for relevant or useful information, to ask questions with helpful clarifications and answers?

Clearly it makes more sense to be an obstuse, smarmy asshole, that really helps the community seem welcoming and grow, makes everything seem jovial and friendly.

I should have known that I needed to make my joke more obvious.

Also, I can't go back to reddit. I've been gone so long that they cancelled my passport.

The fact that the wiki states that 2 of the leaks were posted just to win an argument is hilarious to me

Oh no! The harrier? Did they get the specs for the Avro Vulcan? What about the Spitfire?

I've said it before, I'll say it again:

Lock the entire forum into read-only mode for a week, and plaster the leakers name on the front page as the reason for the lock.

Yeah I'm sure Warthunder DOESNT want that to happen. They are a Russian company after all- I'm sure they want people to STOP posting classified documents of western vehicles!

Considering that they've basically said everything to stop the postings aside* from threatening to ban people from the game, I'd say they actually don't want the posts.

*They've said they will never used the leak material for game design purposes, and they also cooperate in the prosecutions of the leakers, IIRC with the nato/western leaks.

If you're a Russian spy op you don't give a shit about using classified docs for improving the game, and once you trick an idiot into giving up classified docs why wouldn't you cooperate with authorities. It's not like you give a shit about some dumbass US airman or that you don't keep copies. If the they didn't cooperate they wouldn't have a chance at getting the next 15 leaks after the first one. You would have to be a fucking idiot to not cooperate and keep the classified docs rolling.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm saying the logic you used to come to that conclusion is deeply flawed.

The reason the statement to not use them for game design purposes matters is that that is often the reason users post the documents. They'd have likely provoked more leaks if they'd stayed silent on that (even though it should be quite obvious).

Though also regardless of what gaijins intentions are, I'm sure at this point russia has someone watching new war thunder forum posts 24/7.

As lwl already said, the reason that gaijin's statement matters is because none of the leaks that I saw posted on war thunder's forums were for clout. This isn't the dumbass in discord posting stuff because he got pissed off that others didn't believe how cool he was. All of them were because the player had a beef with the developer's take on the capabilities of a tank/plane and they wanted gaijin to use the real world takes on what their favorite little machine could do.

As far as cooperating, why would they need to in order to keep the leaks coming? These are gamers, and specifically simulation lovers who sometimes have nearly disorder-like focus on war machines, not dipshits in an office trying to use microsoft word. If gaijin didn't cooperate and a country tried to block the forums for war thunder, the users would probably rant for five minutes, then fire up a vpn or proxy and log in.

You're right. The people posting classified materials to a game forum for clout would absolutely hate if everyone knew they were posting classified materials because they don't want clout

How does this get any upvotes? Bots? Shills? Oh both, well damn...

Look, I thought it was reasonable because I hoped it would turn the rest of the forum users against the leak source.
Everyone getting locked out for a week should... hopefully have the chilling effect I'm looking for?

Some people just like the easy answers.
