Pretty sure it's been over a year. As much as I love sync can't justify the high price for a broken app. Summit is the closest I've found for a replacement.

Last updated march 2024. I'm using Thunder at this point as there were a fair few broken bits and bobs. It's not as slick but it seems to support Lemmy a bit more thoroughly and has a similar UI approach

It's a damn shame because Sync is absolutely excellent, but it's already had several quite severe bugs gone unfixed for over a year now, and it will stop working altogether with Lemmy 1.0.

If you're looking for an alternative Summit has been great, and the developer is super active and responsive. It's without a doubt the best alternative, in my opinion.

Afaik, nobody has heard from him, even via the play store

But that is a habit of his. He'll be active right around an update and then vanish for a year or more.

Nice guy, friendly, just not reliable in terms of communications

I'm hoping he's okay. I understand if he's going through something personal and just needs time.

Just insane cope. Reddit was a stable ecosystem where breaks like this for a big update were acceptable. But lemmy its not the developer cashed in on the bag when everyone first tried to move over from reddit and then abandoned the project less than a year later. Fuck him.

I've moved to Thunder, it's open source. If it gets abandoned, there's a chance someone will pick it up and keep developing it.

Voyager is a really solid alternative, and with lots of visual tweaking I've got it close to how sync looked.

Yeah, fingers crossed he comes back. Even just a check in message would be appreciated.
