"I didn't vote for this"

Yes... you literally did vote for this.

it'll never cease to be hilariously ironic that conservatives love to call others naïve, as they themselves fail to realize that people will tell blatant lies in order to get votes

It's all projection. Poorly educated people cannot comprehend that people smarter than them exist.

Anyone who think they are smarter must be an idiot and must be more naive than a them to believe they are actually smarter.

While I agree, education and intelligence are not equivalent. Be careful when calling well-educated people "smart"

14

I use poorly educated to mean people who do not pick up the education skills to keep themselves educated.

One can graduate from an Ivy League and be poorly educated, we've had presidents that prove this to be the case.

There is a difference between being given and education and becoming educated. One can become educated by sheer personal will as well as reject education despite all external efforts.

Good does not equal well.

Bad does not equal poor.

These idiots really don't understand how it works, do they? "trans the kids"

nobody was transing the kids, idiot Austin. That's not how anything worked.

Honestly the best response to that kind of thing is just "lol based" completely short-circuits them

21

"Easy there snowflake. Did you forget to take your testosterone booster today? You out here crying like a pussy ass lib."

22

Been seeing trans as a verb more and more just lately. Now you will too.

3

Haha what a sad hateful bitter fuck. May he find out more

64

Oh no Trump took away my buisness with his economic policies. At least I can rest easy knowing that we're legislating child genitals

They have to. Their world view is so fragile that accepting they're wrong about even the smallest thing risks shattering the whole.

23

So I am someone who used to get defensive when I was wrong about something, until I heard a great trick. Think of being corrected as knowing the truth, then spin it in your head that now that you know the truth you are now right. It's selfish as hell, but it works for me. Less defensiveness, less arguing, better mentality.

2

I didn't vote for this

Didn't you know what you were voting for?

Yes.

Well, he's a liar, an idiot, or both. I'm going with both.

31

So he clearly shows he knows next to nothing butwhat he's been shovel fed. He's using trans in a verb form, which shows his ignorance very clearly. Maybe if he learned more or met some trans individuals (you see, it's an adjective in this sentence), he might understand more. But empathy is a sin, so can't do that. That Bible he knows 4 words from says so, he was told it said that, along with hating homosexuals and immigrants... jfc, I'm so sick of blatant stupidity. I can forgive ignorance, but wanton idiocy just flabbergasts me. We as humans crave knowledge and are by nature curious. Why some people are content to just sit like automatons and refuse to learn anything I just cannot comprehend.

It's a genuine mistake (/s), they thought that pro-business/anti-regulations would help their small business.

As with everything, they lied. It's about billionaires making more billions, at the expense of EVERYONE else - workers, but also other businesses. I'm convinced that all the rest, including the racism, xenophobia, transphobia, misogyny and overall bigotry are just tools to convince people to act against their own interests.

31

They didn't even lie. They said this is what they were going to do. He chose to believe that plan would only hurt people he disliked.

26
lemmy.world

people picked wealth over human rights and healthcare.

Let's not pretend that either human rights or healthcare were on the ballot in 2024.

5
lemmy.ca

The republicans came within a vote of defunding Obamacare in 2018 and have talked about kicking out immigrants for a generation. To say that neither of those things were on the ballot is incredibly naive.

5

Sorry, I thought you meant universal healthcare, not a half measure from a decade and a half ago.

Democrats already adopted republican border policy last year.

Neither was on the ballot. Neither candidate wanted universal healthcare, and neither was going to protect civil rights.

2

Notice that they voted for "Trump" but that it's "government" that damaged their business. Curious.

88

Look, he voted for Trump too. Clearly the guy doesn't think anything through or even have good ideas.

Thats not it at all. Theres a big difference between 15% import taxes and 200%

11

that is what the de minimis loophole is though, and it is ideologically consistent with tariffs and trumps economic view so it is what he voted for

11

Literally everyone warned you. Everyone.

But you wanted to "own the libs" so those leopards you let brainwash and manipulate you are now feasting on faces.

46

Conservatism is, as always, a complete failure of empathy, a lack of ability to recognise that if you don’t care about other people and you choose to put people who also don’t care about other people in charge, the people in charge simply and absolutely don’t care about you or your friends or your family.

Conservatives don’t understand that “them” and “us” are actually all just us.

44
lemmy.world

No more DEI, no more LGBTQ. You losing your business was totally worth it right? Thats what you voted for.

42

I actually really like seeing these.

You dumbs fucks did this to yourselves, the unfortunate part is that they were not smart enough to understand what was really happening and what was going to happen.

The unfortunate part is all the misery they will cause for the good people (and I don't mean one political party or another).

The enshittification of the world (which has been happening for a while) is picking up speed because of these dumb fucks.

41

All I ever want to say to these people is: YOU DUMB FUCK. YOU STUPID GODDAMN FUCK. YOU SCREWED US ALL WITH YOUR STUPIDITY.

39

What comes around, goes around. They are pretending that they didn't wish ill will against others first.

14
lemm.ee

I actually agree with this quote, but I don’t think it applies here. I don’t want ordinary people to suffer, including Trump voting lunatics. The difference here is that this guy is a public figure and probably rich. Let him eat the tariffs and get a job at McDonalds.

2

See, the thing is, these people were perfectly fine with everyone else suffering the consequences of their actions, but now they're bitching because the chickens have come home to roost, and they demand sympathy. No. Show me you've learned and you'll improve before you demand anything from me.

Eta: nobody's enjoying the schadenfreude because you "voted differently" than them, you disconnected asshats. It what and who you voted for.

All Libertarians are just republiQans who don’t want to take responsibility for republiQans.

21

Mostly, yeah. I identify as left libertarian, in that I'm generally opposed to all forms of coercion, including economic coercion, and there are dozens of us all over the country. We're far, far outnumbered by the right libertarians and the embarrassed republicans that have successfully hijacked the party. For example, the LPUSA used to have an official policy plank supporting the right to abortion; that got shitcanned after 2020 in an attempt to try and court republicans. It's a damn shame, too, because their party mascot, the porcupine, is pretty fucking sick.

8

I used to identify as "libertarian" but it was obvious that the party itself was in no way, shape or form ideologically libertarian. They were neolibs at best, and alt-right, goosestepping fascists at worst. I no longer use the term to describe me or my ideology because it's been completely co-opted by the right.

paying the taxes

LMAO, swing and a miss...

20

I mean, they will pay them. And then charge more for product to cover the additional cost. It's a lot easier to tolerate that in the short term if you're bigger.

I find it amusing they though they'd be safe from the increased tariffs under a de minimis limit. That's a thing that could have happened, but that tends to benefit small purchasers over large ones which is the opposite of GOP thinking and is also no something Trump et al had ever mentioned, so I don't know why they would expect it?

For anyone that doesn't know, de minimis is a tariff exception for small purchases, basically that it's not worth the administrative cost of levying the tariff for fiddling small change, so if it's a small enough shipment they won't bother.

2

If you thought Trump was ever going to help you or keep his word on anything, you are just aggressively, ferociously stupid. You knew EXACTLY what he was and was warned 1000 times what he was. You got told.

20

You get exactly what you fucking deserve you stain on humanity. I pray you starve to death in the streets so everyone can see what your malicious selfishness has earned you.

Edit: downvote all you want, these monsters only understand empathy as applied to them, their continued living does nothing for humanity - their messy, miserable, self inflicted death for all to see might actually teach some people something.

From another post, in case you think my initial assessment too harsh -

This is not a battle between good and evil.

This a battle between stupid and evil. And stupid is scoring home run after home run!

7

I like the sentiment but... Who's evil and who's stupid?

Trump is definitely evil and his voters evil and stupid, but I'm not sure his stupid voters are winning IE OP

I don't know... I feel like sane people are losing because our system gives shit hole states as much power as California

2

Note to self: Face-eating leopards nearly always arrive hungry.

6

I hope Steffi leaves him for a better man (although there's a good chance she voted Trump too, in that case I hope the better man dump her)

5

Well he can get an exemption if he pays a $10 million consulting fee to Ballard Partners. I assume he's okay with that, because that's what he voted for.

5

If this dork were a REAL capitalist he’d know that money flows to where it is utilized most efficiently. Lesser enterprises are best killed off. Charming small businesses are for the weak!
