No, you might be a primitivist, feudalist, syndicalist, or any of many other ways of organizing society. What you adopt will depend on your values and how you perceive the relationship between people and capital. Ultimately the labels are helpful up to a point, because the application of theory, or praxis, will manifest in ways to meet the need of your time.

Just to get ahead of it, capitalist can mean both one who supports capitalism as a way to organize society, and one who owns capital. From context it's clear we mean the former definition.

13

Now you're just listing assassin's creed games

8

I get that there are other types of organizations. However I was being a dick and saying that if you aren't for capitalism you are for communism. Obviously they are other choices but just for ease sake.

It's kinda like if you aren't this then by default you are this. Null hypothesis and such. Yada yada

I'm sorry I never got into Pokemon so I have no clue what you're talking about

After being told the "right way" to browse Mastodon, I started using hashtags and saw nothing but German and Russian language posts. Whats up with that?

That moment when you learn what .ml stands for.

Obligatory:

Sprich Deutsch, du Hurensohn!

Sorry, I had to. I don't make the rules.

So it's all nerdy shit and porn?

I remember when the internet was all nerdy shit and porn. I'm not sure if OP is complaining.

lemmy.dbzer0.com

Also make sure you're on an instance that federates with porn instances, iirc lemmy.ml does not, for example.

4

Nah. It's tons of people crying about the Sync app - they just pretend there's other content.

4
lemmy.world

Yes. Now this is quality. As thanks, please enjoy this cat:

This is Lemmy .

So much Linux I had to block a fedora community.

So much NSFW I had to block cocks, sorry fellas.

Rest is good, I'm staying.

Wow, that's terrible! Can you tell me where you saw those NSFW posts so that I can make sure I block them, too?

All is the best. I'm slowly growing my subs but 95% of time is All

5

I keep getting confused because my All and my Subscribed feeds appear to similar! I must be the hive mind or something

2
lemmy.world

And tons of global warming info which scares the crap outta me and makes me sad 😭

31
reddthat.com

My instance's admin explained that those brief errors are due to the database deleting banned users posts in an extremely inefficient manner. Basically more growing pains because Lemmy never saw this kind of activity before

4

Well that's interesting. I'm honestly fine with the downtime and feel empathy for the admins. It's a small price to pay for non-silicon valley bro social media.

Also some of the best goddamn memes I've seen in a while. Seriously, it's rare I'll spot a meme on Reddit that I feel like reposting, but over the last three days I've found a good dozen on Lemmy where I was like "I have to share this with so-and-so".

27

I noticed that a little over a month ago, many of these memes you could frame and hang in a pop-art gallery and Daddy Warhol would be proud.

kbin.social

A lot of these people are people who made the effort to escape Reddit and all of its bullshit, it stands to reason they would also spend the extra effort to learn to use a privacy-respecting freedom-preserving OS. There are a LOT of computer nerds here.

It makes me want to reinstall Mint after years of not messing with Linux.

Do I need to create a separate account for each instance?

i have seen star trek stuff but no futurama posts until now

8

I don't remember which community it was, but there was a trend of "cats in bags" earlier this week sometimes. My All feed was full of cats for a day or so.

2

Lots of Star Trek? Makes me love this place even more

I joined the Star Trek instance solely because I like startrek.website being in my handle.

Here's one:

https://kbin.social/m/space !kbin.social/m/space

(Can't remember which linking format works best, so I did both)

Also, this happened to be at the top of my feed earlier, but it wasn't from a dedicated community:

!lemmy.world/post/2671971

How come your name has a little blue crown next to it? Is that a sync feature highlighting yourself? 😆

5

I find the meme quality to be very palettable and unique to the region, despite many different memeyards peppered over the place doing their own style.

8
kbin.social

Is there a toggle to show NSFW or something, cause I haven't seen any.

6
lemmy.world

Yeah, you can toggle it on/off when you create your account, or in settings.

Actually, I see you're on kbin, but I'm sure it's similar.

6

Me neither, some instances block NSFW instances completely.

5
lemmy.ml

Yeah, same here. I've seen a ton of comments complaining about too many NSFW posts. I've had to go out of my way to see anything NSFW.

3

On 17.x the available sort filters would easily surface tons of NSFW but seems 18.x deprioritized it on the main All feeds

1

That video is genius. All done in one shot if I remember correctly.

3
sh.itjust.works

You left out the endless stream of links to clickbait and news articles.

4

The furries was how I knew I was in a place to stick around and pay attention. Idk what it is about furries but they always know what's up and they're always among the nicest people I've ever met

1
lemmy.sdf.org

I'm fucking confused about what's trying to be conveyed here. This doesn't make any sense to me.

2

Basically OP is saying that their Lemmy feed is clogged up with posts from those communities written out in the pic.

If you don’t know what most of those communities are then be happy because you probably regularly touch grass.

The people who bought Sync got it for the UX, and because they genuinely wanted to support LJ. Nothing wrong with that.
