Welcome to Johnson City on the Reddit Upgrade
... or so Lemmy would have you believe. I'll consider it an upgrade when I don't have to explain what it is any more.
Soooo, how bout that time change, huh? Like a giant middle finger to those of us who have to go to work and school before daylight. I wish they'd just leave standard time active. I mean, for one thing, the having to wake up before sunrise thing. For another, wouldn't it be nice not to have to wait till 9:50 PM for fireworks on July 4? Who does daylight still at 9:00 PM benefit, anyway?
But nope, the more popular leaning is to keep Daylight Savings as the standard time. I wish someone could help me see the value beyond "it gets dark later".

Me a few minutes ago: "Johnson City? Surely it's like a different JC somewhere... nope that's the sign alright, cool!" I did miss the /tricities subreddit since I came here a while back.
Let's blow this mother up, I'm sure ETSU's got a fair amount of students using some Fediverse service or another. I'm really just here and on Mastodon (which I've barely touched, it's currently just sharing my Lemmy posts) but I'll do what I can.
I just rolled up /c/johnsoncity. Would have done so last night but Sync on Android doesn't pass along error hints the same as a desktop web browser.
Didn't get around to creating /c/tricities yet. You can have first dibs if you like, unless I find a thumbnail and banner I like first.
Nah I'm good heh. Plus, there's probably such a small amount of us here we might as well keep to a single comm. Folks from Bristol and Erwin will figure it out.
Ooh, subtle burn on Kingsport. I like it.
Seeing a welcome post for community for my hometown open with a Norm MacDonald joke is so surreal for me. Howdy neighbor
There are dozens of us! Dozens!
