Indeed. Though interestingly, the Jetta seems to be much more common abroad, t's a pretty rare car in Germany.

For roughly Jetta-sized cars by Volkswagen, it's usually Passat or Golf (including the 'Golf variant' station wagon). VW Passat is fairly common as a police car, too.

Is it called the Jetta there? I know some cars have regional model names.

The same car has been sold under both names for some years but the jetta is still a thing there

Yeah that sounds about right. I vaguely remember seeing them called the "American" name while lapping the green hell at some point.

Apparently, the name is derived from "jetstream", so it probably is supposed to be pronounced like cheddar. But a German who does not know that would probably pronounce it as Yetta, yes.
