Is there a maximum theoretical file size for a gender?

That's only for that puny site. I'm referring to something more akin to the information theoretic computer science concept of maximum gender file size, where you can't add in any more gender before the amount of information turns into a black hole.

Insofar as gender is a social construct and potentially unique to a person, one could say that gender's maximum file size would be equal to an entity's conceptualization of their gender. While you might be able to parse out the "gender" portion of a standard human brain by mapping the various neural connections' patterns that form the basic archetypal building blocks that eventually model gender through their activation in series, that excludes the possibility of a non-human brain that could have a much more defined, complex conceptualization of gender. While there is likely an upper limit given inherent physical limitations in the emergent phenomenon of sapience, there is much yet to be explored in this topic.

you might consider asking fungi this question

The human genome is 200 gigabytes, but that only includes the biological sex. The average human brain can apparently store about 2500 terabytes, so about 2500.2 TB. This assumes that all genomes and neurons have an effect because you did ask for the maximum.

That’s only the shareware version. Full DOOM took like 8 floppies.

8 floppies? You need to pump those numbers up!

One of these days I'm going to find the backups for all of the .WAD files I got from random ass FTP sites in the early days of the Internet and I will die of nostalgia.

That is a rabbit hole I'm not going anywhere near a few hours before I have to go to work!

My next day off is going to be fun, though!

Do you have an alternative to the Twitter link?

2

I did not mean for it to be a link, TIL that the TLD .zip has a 42 e try that redirects to Elon's shit show.

welcome to the world Super Jario 69 (respects your pronouns but can't afford the legal fees to use them)

Either three HD 3.5", or five 5 1/4".

Doom II was either five 3.5", or CD-ROM which was this thing only your rich mate had at the time.

It always hurts a little when you have to show people how little space stuff used to need.

I like modern games with awesome graphics and sound quality, but I feel like we lost the ball a while ago on what is important in a game.

Because storage was expensive back then compared to today. Like $280 for a 20MB 5.5 inch hard drive expensive.

Well that and the machines didn't have the same performance as they do now. Now you can stream assets from the hard drive and render the game at the same time.

Games can be better now because we have objectively better hardware, and better ways of rendering assets.

I still feel like people are focusing too much on details that don't really contribute to the experience, only to throw AI at it, to make it run better. Effectively making the 4K textures and high Polly models pointless because you are going to look at an AI upscaled version anyway.
