Honor killings are a one way street.

Man kills wife for advocating for women's rights? Halal. Allah approved.

Two girls enact revenge on their rapist? Absolutely Haram!

Iunno I feel like Indian women as a power block is pretty massive. Like half a billion people or something.

Just saying that it's not apparent if you're speaking ironically or actually believe that. If it's the latter then that's straight up Islamophobia.

Uh no its not Islamophobia, its just the truth. It doesnt have to be this way but it is. Claiming anything else is just denying the fact that women in these cultures are systematically oppressed and enslaved.

To be fair, it's not like the bible is any better on women's rights. It's just that most modern Christians (thankfully) ignore large parts of their book. There are plenty of fundamentalist Christian groups that have just as bad, or in some cases a worse, culture of misogyny.

Let's be reasonable and have you present proof how it is true that it is halal, ie. accepted by the religion in the Quran or authentic hadiths which are the base of religious jurisprudence, to kill your wife for advocating whatever.

If you cannot, and you will not because it is not and is rather forbidden, then what is said about the religion is false and thus it is islamophobia.

Nobody disagrees that it is being done in some countries, where the people may themselves ignorantly attribute it to whatever. But saying it is backed by the religion is being as ignorant as those people.

I dont care about religion, i just care about the things that people do and have done to them. I didnt even mention religion in my response, so...

have you present proof

Give it up; this guy is saying things that would get you banned if you replaced "Muslim" with "Asian" but it's okay because it's Muslims apparently.

Which cultures? Which subset of the nearly 2 billion Muslims in the world are you talking about? Because I sure as hell don't know any of those slaves you're talking about.

Holy fuck this place is almost as Islamophobic as r/worldnews. Seriously what the fuck? Does it feel that bad for your views to be challenged?

-2

I just know too many ex islam refugee women for me not to be aware of what strong religious beliefs do to a society. Religious fundamentalism always turns violent, no matter the religion. The existence of more peaceful islamic cultures doesnt change the fact that there are so many horrible ones. Israel is also a great example of how religion makes it easy to manipulate people into giving up their humanity.

Seriously my Muslim buddies are not oppressing their daughters and I would be floored if they harmed them.

When talking about 1/4 of Earth’s population it becomes real hard to generalize without being racist and factually incorrect.

Oof. Shouldn't be focus on rehabilitating them instead?

You don't understand: I'm a good person, so when I want to do horrible things, that's OK, because as a good person, I'll only do horrible things to bad people.

6

Not everyone can be rehabilitated.

Also, the threat of "rehabilitation" isn't enough to deter a significant portion of criminals.

"A medieval device for a medieval act."

(The quote I've only seen in viral images, not in any verifiable news sources, but it's memorable and relevant regardless)

Their mothers, both married to the deceased man, ...

Because of course.

Idk, I feel like the problem here is that the late piece of shit dad's a rapist, not the polygamy.

He shouldn't have been able to get a wife, let alone two.

Yeah. It's a sick world we live in.

So many women are just cool with abuse.

10

Their mothers, both married to the deceased man, were aware of the alleged abuse but not the plan for revenge.

Yup. It’s fucked.

16

It's his fault for wearing flammable clothing. He was asking for it.

This is what your body my choice really means.

Touch me without consent, you're gonna burn without consent

18

He did it to himself. You can't prove they did it! Even if they said they did they are suffering mental Stress.

16

What's that you say, sonny?

You say it was a blameless accident? What a shame. Oh well.

I don't quite get the family construct here:

Two teenage step-sisters were arrested in Pakistan's Gujranwala, for allegedly setting their father on fire in revenge for rape

If they are step-sisters they can't share a father, if they did that would make them half-sisters not step-sisters.

But aside from that, it sounds like a pretty solid plan they found there, easy enough for teenagers and apparently effective.
