How was this meeting not a violation of the Logan Act?
It was, as was his meeting with Orban. But as we’ve seen many times, trump is apparently immune to prosecution.
I loath Trump but he isn't the only president to get special privileges, he just sucks at covering it up or he doesn't care.

It's opposite day in Trump world, again. What he means is that if he wins the election and allows Russia to win in Ukraine as he absolutely will, the Baltics and Taiwan are next, probably simultaneously so that NATO is overwhelmed and the whole world is forced into this century's first world war.
But of course, he will spin this as "fostering peace" with China and Russia, because presidents who don't simply Art of the Deal their way out of wars (read: selling off countries that aren't theirs) are losers. The whole "oh no we're in a war now" thing will be studiously avoided until the next election, or at least the US getting involved in such a war, because then it's some other sucker's problem.
